Round 7 of the MXGP World Championship in Germany was a weekend of steady progress. I was still dealing with my ankle injury, but it felt better than the previous weekend, and I was able to build confidence throughout the event.
Saturday started off difficult as I struggled to find my rhythm in both Free Practice and Time Practice. After making a few changes to the bike before the Qualifying Race, things improved significantly. I got a great start and, despite losing a few positions in the opening corners, finished 12th and gave myself a much better gate pick for Sunday.
Race 1 didnβt begin as planned after a poor start left me outside the top twenty. I fought my way back through the field, found better speed towards the end of the moto, and finished in 11th place. It wasnβt the result I wanted, but there were definitely positives to take from the second half of the race.
Everything finally came together in Race 2. I got another excellent start, ran as high as fifth, and battled around sixth and seventh for most of the race. A small mistake while working through lapped riders dropped me to eighth, but I held the position to the finish. It was my strongest ride of the season so far and showed the pace I know Iβm capable of.
Iβm happy to leave Germany with an 8th overall, but I also know thereβs more to come. The goal now is to find that same speed from the first practice session instead of only in the final race of the weekend. Next up is Round 8 in Latvia.
