Round 6 of the MXGP World Championship in France was a tough weekend. I was still racing with a painful ankle after twisting it a few weeks earlier, and it definitely affected me throughout the weekend.
Saturday was difficult as I struggled to find a good rhythm. Although I managed to improve to 12th in the Qualifying Race, I still wasn’t riding at the level I knew I was capable of.
Race 1 was another challenging moto. After a difficult start and struggling to find my flow, I crossed the line in 17th place.
Things finally came together in Race 2. I got a much better start, felt more comfortable on the bike, and was able to fight my way to 9th place. It was a positive way to finish the weekend and gave me confidence heading into Germany.
Away from the racing, it was also an emotional weekend after my teammate suffered a serious crash. My thoughts have been with him ever since, and I wish him a full and speedy recovery.
Although 13th overall wasn’t the result I was aiming for, I was happy to end the weekend on a positive note and take that momentum into the next round.
