Round 3 – MXGP of Switzerland, Frauenfeld 🇨🇭

Qualifying Race: 11th
Race 1: 8th
Race 2: 15th
Overall GP: 12th

A very positive weekend in Switzerland. My body finally feels back on the right track, and I got some great feedback from training during the week. Even though Race 2 became complicated after getting stuck in second gear, I’m really happy with my riding level throughout the entire weekend.

Right from Free Practice, I felt much better than at the previous GP. I had good flow, felt comfortable on the bike, and everything clicked. In Time Practice, I put together some solid laps, but the level in MXGP is incredibly close. Just over two seconds off the fastest lap was only enough for 15th.

Just before the Qualifying Race, heavy rain hit the track and made the starting gate extremely slippery. I spun off the gate and found myself well outside the top 20, but stayed calm, picked riders off one by one, and worked my way back to a solid 11th place.

It rained heavily overnight, setting up a muddy race day. Sunday started in the best possible way with the 3rd fastest time in warm-up, giving me a big confidence boost heading into the motos. The conditions were cold and wet, but I felt great on the bike.

In Race 1, I once again spun off the gate and had a poor start. I stayed patient, found some good lines, and quickly worked my way from around 15th into the top 10. From there, I rode a strong and controlled race, eventually finishing 8th after a couple of riders ahead ran into problems. I was really happy with both my speed and my riding.

Race 2 was much more challenging. Another poor start was followed by a crash on lap two after an optimistic passing attempt, dropping me to around 25th. On the very next lap, I bent my gear shifter in a rut and got stuck in second gear for the remaining 25 minutes of the race. That definitely wasn’t easy.

Even so, I fought my way back through the field and climbed to 13th, with 11th place in sight. I felt like I had more to give, but constantly riding in second gear made things difficult. I crashed again and dropped back to 15th. On the final lap, I was about to pass for 13th when I got pushed off the track and crashed once more, eventually finishing 15th.

Overall, I finished 12th for the weekend. The results are still not where I want them to be, but the most important thing is that my body finally feels good again, my riding is back at a high level, and for the first time this season I completed an entire GP weekend without any arm pump.

Now it’s time to keep building on this heading into the French Championship next weekend.

Thanks to everyone for the support!
